Visit Stratford upon Avon for Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebration – 27th April
Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations – RSC Event – 27th April
Calling all budding actors! In addition to the town procession, this year’s Shakespeare Birthday celebrations will be marked by a special event on Saturday 27th April, coordinated by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
It is a perfect event for the family with workshops and fun theatre-making demonstrations taking place throughout the day at venues that are significant to Shakespeare, including the Other Place, the RSC Theatre and Trinity Church. There is also a series of free pop-up performances – All the Street’s a Stage, by theatre group Highly Sprung who will be giving a series of improvised performances around the town from 9am.
There will be lots going on including free craft activities for families, with the opportunity to listen to sonnets being read as you cross the River Avon on the chain ferry.
The day’s celebrations culminate with Shakespeare’s Birthday Performance, The Taming of the Shrew, in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at 7.15pm
See more info here on the RSC website where you can also book tickets for the various events throughout day.
Our top recommendation is to combine this special event with a 2-night stay at Burnside Hotel so you don’t miss a minute of the fun – check in on Friday afternoon and round the weekend off with Sunday lunch in Burnside Restaurant!
